Piano
Biography
Born in Kyiv in 1988, Antonii Baryshevskyi passed through the Mykola Lysenko Special Music School and the National Music Academy of Ukraine before continuing at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Marian Rybicki, and in masterclasses with Alfred Brendel and Richard Goode. His awards include first prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition and second at the Busoni, with further distinctions in Spain, Serbia and Ukraine. His programmes reach from the Romantic literature to music written now, and include works by Ukrainian composers; since the full-scale invasion of his country in 2022 that advocacy has been joined by benefit concerts. His teacher at the academy in Kyiv was Valerii Kozlov, and the competition record runs from a first prize at Jaén in 2009 and a second at the Busoni in 2011 to the Rubinstein first prize in 2014. He has played with the Israel Philharmonic and the Munich Radio Orchestra, and at Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw and the festivals of Lugano, the Ruhr and Bolzano.
