Arsen Soghomonyan began as a baritone, singing Figaro, Germont and Belcore. The change came in 2017, with a tenor debut as Cavaradossi at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre in Moscow, the house whose company he belonged to; the roles that followed included Hermann in The Queen of Spades, Otello, Calaf, Turiddu, Canio, Radamès and Don José. Trained in Yerevan, the Armenian tenor has since been heard at the Vienna State Opera, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera, the Stuttgart State Opera, the Royal Opera House in London, Washington National Opera and the Greek National Opera. He took his degree at the Komitas Conservatory and began at the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in baritone parts, winning the State Prize of Armenia in 2006 and a prize at the Pavel Lisitsian competition; in 2008 and 2009 he worked in Raina Kabaivanska's masterclasses at New Bulgarian University and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, holding a scholarship from her fund.
