Cello
Biography
Attila Pasztor studied in Vienna: the Vienna Conservatory with Josef Luitz, then the University of Music and Performing Arts, where he studied with Wolfgang Herzer, took his diploma in the class of Tobias Kühne and added the degree of Magister artium. Between 1988 and 1994 he worked with Daniil Shafran, with coaching from Arto Noras and master classes with David Geringas. The prizes came early and steadily: Austrian Radio in 1987, first prize as soloist at the International Chamber Music Festival Austria in the same year, the Vienna Philharmonic Prize in 1990, first prizes at Liezen in 1992 and at Bayreuth in 1994, the OESTIG prize for contemporary music, second prize at the Brahms competition in Pörtschach. He has played across Europe, Asia, South America and the United States as soloist and chamber musician, and has made programmes of his own for radio and television. Since 2017 he has worked as a product manager at Thomastik-Infeld on the development of new strings. His cello is a Carlo Giuseppe Testore of 1697. He composes as well, for film among other purposes, and has played with contemporary ensembles. The Wiener Festwochen and Carinthian Summer are among the festivals that have engaged him, as are festivals in Warsaw, Havana and Finland, and since 2011 he has been a member of the All Alba Trio, whose work joins classical playing to jazz and film music.
