Biography
Bomsori Kim studied at Seoul National University with Young Uck Kim and then at the Juilliard School with Sylvia Rosenberg and Ronald Copes, and gathered prizes at a run of the major competitions — Tchaikovsky, Queen Elisabeth, ARD, Sibelius, Montreal, Sendai and Wieniawski. Born in 1989, she plays with orchestras across Europe, Asia and North America, and has recorded for Warner Classics and Deutsche Grammophon, with concertos by Wieniawski, Shostakovich, Bruch and Korngold to her name. She has recorded exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 2021, the year she was Focus Artist of the Rheingau Musik Festival and began a five-year residency at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival as a Menuhin Heritage Artist. The Joseph Joachim competition in Hanover is among those that gave her prizes, and she plays the 1725 Guarneri del Gesù known as the ex-Moller, on loan from the Samsung Cultural Foundation and the Stradivari Society of Chicago.
