Tenor
Biography
Bülent Bezduz sang Fenton in the Falstaff that Colin Davis recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra — a set that took a Grammy. Born in Ankara in 1967, he studied at the music academy of Gazi University there and afterwards at CNIPAL in Marseille, was a laureate of the Concours International de Chant in Paris, and made his European debut in the title role of Mozart's Lucio Silla for the European Opera Centre. His roles include Alfredo, Rodolfo and Edgardo, sung at Glyndebourne, the Canadian Opera Company, the Teatro Colón, Scottish Opera, the Israeli Opera and the Ravenna Festival, with Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Jurowski and Enrique Mazzola among the conductors and David Alden, Richard Jones and Phyllida Lloyd among the directors. The Turkish tenor has appeared regularly at the Mersin State Opera and in Istanbul, and sang in the Constanța State Opera's La traviata of 5 November 2016. Leicester in Maria Stuarda, Gennaro in Lucrezia Borgia and Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore also belong to him, and Palermo, Amsterdam and Marseille to the list of houses. The Falstaff recording brought him a share in the 2006 Grammy for best opera recording.
