Biography
Edyta Piasecka has performed Polish operas including Żeleński's Goplana. Still a student at the Academy of Music in Kraków, she made her stage debut at the Kraków Opera as the Queen of the Night, and the coloratura roles that followed — Lucia, Gilda — were joined by Violetta and the title role of Żeleński's Goplana, as well as concert performances of Mimì and Norma. She has sung with the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, the Kraków Opera and other European houses, in operetta as well as opera, and in oratorio and symphonic repertoire from Mozart and Verdi to Szymanowski, Górecki and Orff. She began working with the opera in Wrocław in 1997 and became a soloist of the Kraków Opera in 1999, adding Rosina, Fiordiligi and Hanna in Moniuszko's Straszny dwór to the coloratura parts. Her Warsaw debut came in 2003 as the Countess de Folleville in Il viaggio a Reims, and the Goplana was a production of 2016. In 2018 she took part in a recording of Straszny dwór with the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century under Grzegorz Nowak.
