Emil Ugrinov

Recordings of Bulgarian vocal and dramatic music preserve the voice of Emil Ugrinov, a baritone of the Sofia Opera, among them Marin Goleminov's Thracian Idols and the oratorio Urvich by Dimitar Sagaev. Trained first as an architect, he passed through Iliya Yosifov's studio for young opera singers in 1979 and worked afterwards with Gino Bechi in Italy; his stage career began at the Stefan Makedonski Music Theatre and continued at Sofia Opera from 1979, in baritone parts by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Gounod, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. In July 1997 he was among the soloists of Mahler's Eighth Symphony in Burgas under Ivan Kozhuharov.
