Biography
Born in 1991, Fabiola Kim played her first concerto with the Seoul Philharmonic at seven. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Juilliard, followed by an Artist Diploma at the Colburn School, studying with Sylvia Rosenberg, Ronald Copes and Robert Lipsett. Her 2019 album 1939 sets the Bartók, Hartmann and Walton concertos side by side, recorded with the Munich Symphony and Kevin John Edusei; she has also played with the Berlin Symphony. She teaches at the University of Michigan, and in March 2025 appeared with the Sofia Philharmonic in Klagenfurt and at the Vienna Musikverein. In a 2019 interview she described playing a Stradivari made in 1733. Paraphrases joined 1939 among her recordings, and with Robert Lipsett she co-founded the Sounding Point Academy; at Michigan she holds an associate professorship of violin.
