Soprano
Biography
Francesca Patanè has built her career on dramatic Italian soprano roles — Abigaille in Nabucco, Turandot, Lady Macbeth — and she has sung them in opera houses and at festivals across Europe, North America and Asia. She is a daughter of the conductor Giuseppe Patanè. Broadcasts and recordings preserve a number of her performances. Her grandfather Franco Patanè was a conductor too. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and afterwards with Carlo Bergonzi in Italy, and her career in the lirico-spinto repertoire took shape with the title role of Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro Regio in Turin under Daniel Oren; Tosca, Minnie in La fanciulla del West and Salome stand alongside the Verdi parts.
