Harry Eschkenazy

In 2016 Harry Eschkenazy appeared as a soloist with the State Opera Rousse in Ruse, on a programme shared with Deyan Donkov and Adriana Nikolova. Alongside his playing he has built a body of music-education work, directing the Fortissimo v klas programme and founding the open-air Fortissimo Fest concerts, which carry symphonic and film music to wide audiences. He marked his fiftieth birthday in 2021 with a concert given with the Vidin Sinfonietta at the Sofia City Art Gallery. He comes of a line of musicians - his father a violinist, his aunt a violist - and his brother Maxim and their cousins Vesselin and Martin are also musicians. The Fortissimo v klas lessons he devised enter the ordinary timetable of Bulgarian primary classes as a course of eight monthly meetings, part narrative, part demonstration on the instrument. In April 2016 he also played Vivaldi’s A minor Violin Concerto with the Razgrad Philharmonic under Nayden Todorov.
