Baritone
Biography
Philharmonie Baden-Baden's concert of 19 May 2024 numbered Lorenzo de Cunzo among its soloists, as it did the soprano Sonya Yoncheva. A lyric baritone of German-Italian parentage, he entered the class of Hanno Müller-Brachmann at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in April 2016, studying also with Ingrid Haubold. Opera has taken him to Mozart's Don Giovanni with the Lautten Compagney Berlin at the Mozartfest Würzburg, Karl Amadeus Hartmann's Simplicius Simplicissimus with the Akademie of the Berlin Philharmonic at the Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden, Zemlinsky's Der Kreidekreis at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and Britten's Death in Venice at the Theater Heidelberg, and he has made debuts at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and the Konzerthaus Wien. With the pianist Tarek El Barbari he forms the duo LoTa, whose programmes — La dolce vita!?, Just HEINE, Dichterliebe+ — have won stipends and tour Germany. Recordings of his singing have been broadcast by SWR Kultur. Before specialising in singing, he studied music education and clarinet in Freiburg. In 2018 he taught at a German Lied workshop in Havana.
