Lucian Petrean

Theology came before singing for Lucian Petrean, who was born in Bistrița in 1975 and read it at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj before completing his vocal studies at the city's Gheorghe Dima Music Academy. He made his stage debut in the title role of Rigoletto and has sung Verdi and verismo baritone roles — Germont, Count di Luna, Nabucco, Falstaff, Scarpia, Tonio, Alfio, Amonasro — singing them in German, Italian, French, Czech and Romanian houses, among them the National Theatre in Prague and the Bucharest National Opera. He continued his vocal training with Giorgio Zancanaro and Bonaldo Giaiotti.
