Maria Radoeva

Zerlina at the Rousse opera in 2006 was Maria Radoeva's stage debut. Ten years in the Children's Radio Choir of Bulgarian National Radio had given her her first schooling, and she credits Hristo Nedyalkov and his colleagues with it; as a soloist of the choir she toured Japan, the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Germany and Belgium. Nedyalkov prepared her for the National Academy of Music, where she graduated in 2006 from Lyudmila Hadzhieva's class and took a master's degree in 2012. Prizes at the Svetoslav Obretenov, Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin and Lyubomir Pipkov competitions came between 2004 and 2006; Neue Stimmen in 2006 brought master classes with Katia Ricciarelli, Francisco Araiza and Gustav Kuhn; and in 2011 she was one of twenty singers admitted to the Cardiff Singer of the World from more than six hundred applicants. Christophe Rousset took her into his Monteverdi project across Tuscany in 2008, Musetta followed at the Sofia Opera in 2010 and at the Teatro Comunale in Modena in 2012, and later engagements brought her to the Teatro Regio in Turin and the Tiroler Festspiele Erl. In concert she has sung the soprano part in Mahler's Second Symphony with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire and Verdi's Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic at the Royal Festival Hall; her first disc, Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle, appeared in 2013. She worked with Raina Kabaivanska in master classes on Kabaivanska Foundation scholarships, and began studying with Darina Takova in 2012. The field she came through at Cardiff that year was drawn from sixty-eight countries, and among her earlier distinctions was a special prize at the chamber music competition in Marl. Isaac Karabtchevsky conducted the Mahler, the Verdi Requiem in London fell in 2013 and the debuts in Turin and at Erl in 2014, and she held a scholarship of the New Bulgarian University as well.
