Biography
Constanța has been the centre of Marius Eftimie's working life. He studied at the faculty of arts there with Ioan Ardelean, took a master's degree in stage opera with Lucia Cicoară Drăgan, and worked further with George Emil Crăsnaru, Maria Slătinaru-Nistor and Ionel Pantea; the national Hariclea Darclée competition for school pupils at Brăila made him a laureate in 2000 and again in 2001, and the George Georgescu competition at Tulcea in 2001. As a soloist of the Oleg Danovski National Theatre of Opera and Ballet he has sung across the house repertoire — La bohème, Tosca, Turandot, Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, La traviata, Un ballo in maschera, Otello, Il trovatore, La forza del destino, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus and Die lustige Witwe — and he tours with the company. He teaches as well, in the city where he was trained. Before becoming a soloist, he sang in the Constanța opera chorus.
