Biography
Donizetti, Puccini, Verdi and Mozart were represented in the programmes of concerts in which Matteo Desole appeared during 2014 — galas in Sofia and Plovdiv, and a tribute at the Teatro Regio di Parma to Raina Kabaivanska, whose international master class formed him in part. Born in Sassari in 1989, he sang the tenor solo in Schnittke's Requiem in 2007 and in Schubert's Mass in B flat in 2011, appeared in La notte di un nevrastenico in 2011 and Il signor Bruschino in 2012 at Sassari, and in July 2012 won a scholarship at the Martinelli–Pertile international competition. From 2013 he studied with Raina Kabaivanska in Modena. He made his debut as Malcolm in Macbeth at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna under Roberto Abbado in Robert Wilson's staging, then sang the Duke in Rigoletto for As.Li.Co., Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Savona, Alfredo in Sofia Coppola's Traviata at the Rome Opera and at the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl, and Tamino for the Marche circuit. Later appearances included Prague, Cagliari, Tokyo and London; announced engagements also included Nancy, Saint-Étienne, Lucca and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2023 he sang Nemorino at Glyndebourne.
