Meehae Ryo

Meehae Ryo works as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing with Korean and international orchestras, and has served as a visiting professor of cello at the Korean National University of Arts. She was listed for a Vienna programme with Sherry Tse in January 2025. She had her first cello lesson at six, entered the Juilliard School at sixteen and took a doctorate at the University of Michigan, and has since played with orchestras including the Prague Radio Symphony, the Slovak Radio Philharmonic, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Malta Philharmonic and the Seoul Philharmonic. Deutsche Grammophon issued her recording of the Saint-Saëns and Elgar concertos in 2013, preceded by two albums for Sony, one of them made with the Prague Radio Symphony under Vladimír Válek. She has judged the Enescu, Khachaturian, Antonio Janigro and Brahms competitions, and has been artistic director of the association IMK since 2012.
