Soprano
Biography
Natalia Roman sang Gilda in the Rigoletto given at the Rythalle in Solothurn on 29 June 2013, taking over at short notice from Eva Lind, with Marzio Giossi in the title role. Born in Drochia, Moldova, she graduated with top honours from the University of Arts and Theatre in Chișinău, then studied with the dramatic soprano Luisa Vannini and at the Accademia Rossiniana with Alberto Zedda. Gilda has been the role she has returned to most often, sung between 2005 and 2019 in Italy and abroad; her repertoire also takes in Violetta, Lucia, Musetta and Liù. She has appeared at the Arena di Verona, the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, and on tours to China and South Korea. Moldova has given her the honorary title Maestro in Arte. The Verona Gilda of 2013 was her debut in that house, and Micaela in Carmen and Madama Cortese in Il viaggio a Reims belong to her repertoire too.
