Paul Armin Edelmann

Otto Edelmann, the bass, was his father and his teacher, and Paul Armin Edelmann came to singing early: first as a chorister with the Vienna Boys' Choir, then as a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts in the city of his birth. An ensemble contract in Koblenz built the repertoire, and freelance work since has taken him to the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper, the Theater an der Wien, the Teatro Real, the Paris Opera and the Bregenz Festival. Mozart and Viennese operetta sit at the centre of what he sings, but the lied and the orchestral song cycle count for as much with him as the stage, and contemporary opera has its place too.
