Pop singer
Biography
At fourteen he joined the Black Sea Cossack Choir, the ensemble his father had founded and led, and was singing solos with it at seventeen. A career in German popular music followed: "Ein Mädchen für immer" reached the charts in 1971 and earned Peter Orloff a gold record, and as a writer he supplied Peter Maffay with "Du" and Bernd Clüver with two number ones, among songs for Freddy Quinn, Roy Black and Julio Iglesias. In the early 1990s he came back to the choir he had started in, this time as its musical director, and has led its concerts in churches and concert halls since. He was born in Lemgo in 1944.
