Tenor
Biography
Varna is where Plamen Dolapchiev's singing is placed: Bizet's Carmen in 2011 and, nine years later, Puccini's Turandot in 2020, both with the city's state opera. He completed his studies at the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music in Sofia in 1995 with K. Vachkova, and was on stage before that: Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor in Rousse in 1994 and Alfredo in La traviata in Burgas in 1995. The 1995-96 season placed him in Stara Zagora, and the next brought him back to Rousse for the premiere of Verdi's Stiffelio as Raffaele. In November 1996 he joined the Opera and Philharmonic Society in Varna as a contracted soloist, taking leading tenor parts in La traviata, Rigoletto, Nabucco, Otello, Turandot and Die Fledermaus.
