Biography
Lviv gave Sofia Soloviy her training — singing, piano and musicology at the Mykola Lysenko Music Academy, with Volodymyra Chaika and Ihor Kushpler — before she moved to Italy in 2000 to study at the Accademia d'Arte Lirica in Osimo with Raina Kabaivanska and William Matteuzzi, and later at the Accademia Rossiniana and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. A laureate of fourteen international competitions, among them the Corradetti, the Ottavio Ziino and the Tagliavini, she took both first prize and the audience prize at the Viotti. La Fenice, the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Teatro Real, the San Carlo, the Royal Opera of Wallonia, Valencia and Vienna have heard her as Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Donna Elvira, Vitellia, Elettra, Alceste, Manon Lescaut, Nedda, Elena in I vespri siciliani, Giovanna Seymour, Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda and Salome. Her recordings range from Il ritorno d'Ulisse and Idomeneo to Cherubini's Lodoïska and Salvator Rosa.
