Tenor
Biography
Stefano Secco studied piano and singing with Alberto Soresina in his native Milan and took a diploma in percussion before the voice settled the question; later coaching came from Franco Corelli, Franca Mattiucci, Leyla Gencer and Renata Scotto. Born in 1973, he won the Beniamino Gigli Prize in 2001, and from Fenton and Rodolfo built the lyric-spinto line — the Duke of Mantua, Alfredo, Pinkerton, Edgardo, Don Carlo, Gabriele Adorno, Riccardo, later Cavaradossi and Don José — that carried him to the Paris Opera, La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, Covent Garden, La Fenice, the Teatro Real and the Liceu. In January 2016 he sang the Venice New Year concert with Nadine Sierra.
