Piano
Biography
Svetozar Ivanov was one of the soloists in the symphony concert of Webber, Chuchkov and Gershwin given in Sofia in March 2005 with the Sofia Philharmonic, an evening he shared with Scott Kluksdahl, Boyko Tsvetanov, Carolyn Stuart and Ina Kancheva, and which Lyuba Pesheva and Adriana Blagoeva prepared. Ivanov holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan and is Professor of Piano at the University of South Florida, artistic director of the Steinway Piano Series in Tampa and a Steinway artist, teaching also at the Prague Piano Festival and the Walled City Piano Academy in Northern Ireland. His solo albums are Naked Tango, Vers la flamme, Echo, Dream Images and Intermissions; the DVD Perpetual Tango, issued by Naxos, sets his playing against movement and film. In 2026 he made the first recordings of two concertos — Viktor Chouchkov's Trio Concerto, commissioned by the Stuart-Ivanov Duo, with the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra, and Robert Helps's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the USF Symphony Orchestra. He has played at Carnegie and Merkin Halls in New York, the Salle Gaveau in Paris and the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
