The Beatles

The Beatles were a British rock group, formed in Liverpool in 1960 and consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Across the 1960s their recordings altered popular songwriting, studio practice and the standing of the album as a form, moving from beat music to Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. Lennon and McCartney wrote most of the songs, while Harrison's own contribution grew steadily through the decade. Orchestral arrangements of their music are now a fixture of symphonic and operatic concert seasons across Europe.
