Tenor · Rock singer
Biography
Opera, musical theatre and symphonic metal have all had Thomas Vikström's voice. Born in Stockholm in 1969, the son of the opera singer Sven-Erik Vikström, he began on the theatre stage at the Folkan in 1990, took the title role in Les contes d'Hoffmann in the city in 1991 and played John in Miss Saigon from 1997 to 1998 — a schooling still audible in the rock work. He sang with Candlemass from 1991 to 1994, recording Chapter VI, and with Stormwind and Talisman, releasing the solo album If I Could Fly in 1994; since 2007 he has been the permanent vocalist of Therion. Nikolo Kotzev's rock opera Nostradamus brought him back to the opera house: he took part in the world premiere at the State Opera in Rousse in November 2016 and in the performances that followed in Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv and Sofia in 2017.
