Singer
Biography
Recording in Sofia in 1998, Tzveta Hristoforou sang in André Hajdu's Dreams of Spain and Concerto for an Ending Century, made with the Sofia Festival Orchestra, the Sofia Festival Choir and the Sofia Boys' Choir and issued by Hungaroton. Nayden Todorov conducted the sessions. She grew up in the Varna children's and youth opera and studied at the music school in the city and at the music academy alongside Daniela Dimova. In 2003, after nearly two years of research among young people studying music abroad, she founded the first children's and youth opera theatre in Cyprus, and then the Cyprus Opera Society, which gives singers between fourteen and twenty-one professional training in voice, acting and stage movement over six-month seasons; the Society marked ten years in 2017. Its first production was Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, with Dimova as soloist. In July 2017 she sang Orpheus in Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Roman Baths in Varna, a Cyprus Opera Society and State Opera Varna project that brought ten young Cypriot artists to Bulgaria.
