Ventseslav Anastasov

A long-serving soloist of the Sofia Opera, Ventseslav Anastasov was born in Rousse in 1971, third in a line of professional singers — his parents were Maria Ventseslavova and Anastas Anastasov — and came to singing by way of the piano and the classical guitar, studying first with Georgi Deliganev. In 1990 he entered the class of the bass Asen Selimski at the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, graduating with highest honours in 1996. Abroad he has sung Escamillo and Sharpless at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, in productions conducted by Lorin Maazel, and has appeared at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. He has kept close working ties with the company in his native Rousse. He has been on the soloists' roster of the State Opera in Rousse since 1997.
