Be My Love

Be My Love was written by Nicholas Brodszky to a lyric by Sammy Cahn for the 1950 film The Toast of New Orleans, where it was sung by Mario Lanza and Kathryn Grayson. Brodszky, born in the Austro-Hungarian empire and working in turn in Hungary, Britain and Hollywood, was nominated for an Academy Award for it. Lanza's recording became the first of his discs to pass a million copies and stayed attached to him for the rest of his career. The difficulty of the song lies in the sustained high B flat at the end.
