Symphony no. 2
- Composer
- Marin Goleminov
- Genre
- Symphony
Marin Goleminov wrote symphonies across a career that ran from the 1930s to the 1990s, and the Second was among the works Dobrin Petkov conducted, the conductor whose memory Goleminov honoured in 1989 with his Lamento, the only piece he ever dedicated to another musician. His symphonic writing keeps the asymmetric metres and modal turns of Bulgarian folk music inside forms learned in Paris and Munich. Born in Kyustendil in 1908, he taught for decades at the Sofia academy, directed the Sofia Opera, and died in 2000.
