Celtic Airs and Graces

Celtic Airs and Graces appeared on Earthmagic, the 2009 album on which Leitner first presented her own compositions for flute, harp and orchestra; the album has sixteen tracks. She had by then spent years working in Ireland, recording Irish repertoire — The Gardens of Birr Castle Demesne in 2001, Music of Great Irish Houses in 2007 — and running chamber-music workshops there. The piece works from the ornamental vocabulary of Irish traditional playing, the rolls and cuts of the wooden flute, transferred to the concert instrument and set against an orchestral backing.
