Overture The Magic of Earth

The title connects this piece to Earthmagic, the 2009 album on which Karin Leitner first put out her own compositions for flute, harp and orchestra, and it is laid out as an opening number. Leitner was born in Vienna in 1972, studied flute with Wolfgang Schulz and Robert Aitken, and worked as a solo flute and piccolo player with several Austrian and British orchestras before turning to writing. The overture uses the orchestra with the flute entering over an extended instrumental opening.
