Pictured Within

Pictured Within is the title piece of the album Jon Lord released on Virgin Classics in October 1998 — his first studio record in sixteen years, written after the deaths of his mother and of several friends. He set his own words, and the sequence around them is laid out in four named parts, with Sam Brown and Miller Anderson as singers and an instrumental cast that includes cello, oboe and flute rather than a rock band. The music was recorded at the Maarweg studios in Cologne in 1997 and mixed in the same city.
