The Bay of Dromos
- Composer
- Tsenko Minkin
- Composed
- 1997
The Bay of Dromos was written in 1997 and is subtitled a symphonic parable for large orchestra; the title came from an idea of the poet Hristo Fotev. It is the first of three such parables Minkin planned, followed by Ikarus — The Heavenly Anchor in 2022 and a third piece still in progress. The scoring calls for triple woodwind, and the writing depends less on thematic development than on slowly shifting orchestral colour, a method the composer also used in his film work.
