Suite (L'incontro)

Incontro was a 1971 film by Piero Schivazappa, with Florinda Bolkan as a married woman in Rome and Massimo Ranieri as the much younger man she leaves and then loses. Morricone wrote the score in full; Bruno Nicolai conducted it, as he did for much of Morricone's output in those years. He also supplied a song for the picture, You and I, recorded by King Harvest and later by Ranieri himself. The film is barely seen now, and the music survives mainly as a suite — a slow melodic line with the harmonic drift of Morricone's early seventies.
