Parla piu piano

Parla più piano is the Italian vocal version of the love theme Rota wrote for Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather in 1972, with words by Gianni Boncompagni; the English version, Speak Softly Love, has a different text by Larry Kusik. Rota's score was withdrawn from Oscar consideration that year when the Academy discovered he had reused a theme from an earlier Italian comedy, and the award went elsewhere; he won two years later for the second film. The melody has since been recorded in more than a dozen languages.
