Trumpet Concerto in D
- Composer
- Giuseppe Tartini
- Genre
- Concerto
The concerto known as Tartini's Trumpet Concerto in D is an arrangement, made by the French trumpeter and editor Jean Thilde and published by Billaudot, of a violin concerto from Tartini's catalogue — D. 53 in the Dounias numbering. Tartini wrote no music for trumpet; he led the orchestra at the basilica of Sant'Antonio in Padua from 1721 and left well over a hundred violin concertos. Maurice André recorded the arrangement and made it standard repertoire for the modern piccolo trumpet, where it now appears in competitions and auditions more often than the violin original.
