Symphony Concertante for two piano duos and orchestra

Yosifov's Symphony Concertante is scored for two piano duos — four pianists — with orchestra, an extension of the piano-duo writing that occupied him for more than fifty opus numbers and brought him prizes in Tokyo in 1997 and 1999. The Sofia Philharmonic's biography of the composer records a Symphonie concertante for two piano duos and ten pianos, played by forty hands, premiered in 2002 at the Metropol Hall in Tokyo. The version with orchestra was first given in Plovdiv on 28 February 2003.
