Бамберг

Bamberg's historic town is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage property. From the tenth century it formed an important link with Slavic territories, while its medieval architecture later influenced building in northern Germany and Hungary. In the late eighteenth century, the town was associated with intellectual and literary activity, including the presence of Hegel and E. T. A. Hoffmann.

The Bamberg Symphony is an active part of the city's musical life. Its subscription concerts use the Joseph Keilberth Hall, and its recording programme encompasses a broad orchestral repertoire. This continuing musical activity gives the historic city a contemporary cultural dimension alongside its preserved architecture and literary associations.
