Daejeon's performing arts facilities bring several musical traditions into the city's public life. The Daejeon Arts Center opened in October 2003 with a large Art Hall and a smaller Ensemble Hall, supported by spaces for outdoor events and arts education. These facilities provide different scales for orchestral, theatrical and ensemble work. Traditional Korean performance has another institutional setting at the Yeonjeong centre, founded in 1981 and moved to new premises in 2015. The presence of these distinct facilities gives the city room for both large productions and more specialised performance, linking concert presentation with the continuing training of audiences and musicians.
