Алте Мелцерай – Мосбах

The Alte Mälzerei in Mosbach was built in 1908 for the Hübner brewery's malt-processing operations. A conversion completed in 1997 turned the industrial building into the city's cultural and conference centre, retaining much of its sandstone and brick structure while adding a glazed entrance hall. Since that year it has housed the Mosbacher Klassische Konzerte organised by Konzertgemeinde Mosbach. The series includes orchestral concerts, chamber ensembles, piano recitals and song recitals, with repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary works. Visiting orchestras have included the Sofia Philharmonic and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. The building went up in 1908 as the malt house of the Hübner brewery on what was then the edge of Mosbach; malt was processed there into the 1960s, the brewery closed in 1980, and the listed brick block stood unused until it reopened in 1997 as a culture and conference centre. The hall on the first floor takes up to 1,160 people with the gallery. It replaced the town's worn-out Stadthalle and now serves the whole Neckar-Odenwald district.
