Acoustics were the point from the beginning: built in 1971, the auditorium was shaped so that the unamplified voices of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival's actors, who played there in the company's early years, would carry to the back rows. Visiting musicians still remark on the sound. Now known as the Anniston Performing Arts Center, the hall is home to the Knox Concert Series, which brings touring orchestras, chamber ensembles and soloists to north-eastern Alabama.
