Арена 8888 София

Sofia's largest indoor venue opened on 30 July 2011 to a design by Zheko Tilev, seating 12,373 for sport and close to eighteen thousand when the floor is given over to a concert. It has taken the name of a succession of sponsors — Arena Armeec until 2022, Arena 8888 since 2024 — while the building has stayed exactly what it was. World championships in gymnastics, volleyball and figure skating have been staged in it, along with the Junior Eurovision Song Contest of 2015, Cirque du Soleil and touring arena acts; opera galas on that scale belong to the same calendar.
