The Bulgarian Art Permanent Exhibition of Plovdiv's City Art Gallery occupies the former Girls' High School in the Old Town, designed and built under Joseph Schnitter's direction in 1881. Arranged chronologically across two floors, the display traces Bulgarian art from the National Revival to the present through more than 200 original works. It includes paintings by Georgi Danchov, Stanislav Dospevski and Nikolay Pavlovitch, as well as works by artists associated with Plovdiv's twentieth-century painting tradition.
