Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall forms part of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Performing Arts Center alongside the Judy Bayley Theatre. Dedicated in September 1976, it presented its first performance, by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, on 18 October that year. The hall commemorates the Las Vegas attorney Artemus Ham Sr.; his son contributed one million dollars towards construction. Designed by Moffitt and McDaniel, the auditorium includes a deep stage and a hydraulic extension capable of accommodating a full symphony orchestra. International orchestras, ballet companies, recitalists and university ensembles have made it a meeting place for the musical life of the campus and the wider city.
