Opened on 18 October 2001 to a design by Alfredo Freixedo, the Cangas auditorium serves a catchment of more than 60,000 people on the Morrazo peninsula, drawing from Moaña and Bueu as well as the town itself. Its hall holds 690 — 402 across thirteen rows of stalls, 288 in the amphitheatre and boxes — behind a stage seventeen metres wide and nine deep. The smaller of the building's two blocks houses the municipal music school and the professional conservatory, so the place teaches as well as presents.
