Below the western slopes of the Balkan range, an hour or so north-east of Sofia, Pravets keeps a chitalishte that does the ordinary and necessary work of such places: a library, rooms for the town's amateur groups, and the one hall large enough to receive a visiting ensemble. Its summer series, Pravets Art Nights, brings concerts and spoken-word evenings into the town.
