Детски хор „Дунавски вълни“ – Русе

The children's choir Danube Waves was founded in Ruse in 1947 and has been directed since 1992 by Vesela Todorova, a graduate of the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv from the class of the choral conductor Krikor Chetinyan. It works in two formations, a preparatory group of some twenty-five singers and a concert group of about thirty-five girls and boys between eleven and seventeen, and its repertory ranges across styles and periods, Bulgarian composers beside foreign ones. Prizes have followed steadily: a second prize and an honorary award at the international competition in Neuchatel in 2003, a third prize at Cantonigros in Spain in 2004, a first prize at Sounding Moscow in 2006, the Cybele award for its body of work at Razgrad in 2008, a second prize at the thirty-second Prof. Georgi Dimitrov international May choral competition in Varna in 2010, a third prize and diploma at the first international choral competition in Istanbul in 2011, a first prize at the Friends of Bulgaria festival the same year, and in 2013 a first prize and the title Future of Europe at the international choral festival in Balchik. The choir has also sung at festivals in the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Greece, Germany and Poland.
