Dolce am Kurpark in Bad Nauheim incorporates the spa town’s historic Kurhaus and its Art Nouveau theatre. The theatre was restored after a fire in 1980, retaining the decorative character that connects it with Bad Nauheim’s spa architecture. Its auditorium seats 720 spectators, and its stage covers about 250 square metres. Opera, operetta, concerts, dance and spoken theatre form part of its cultural use, alongside the meetings and events accommodated by the wider hotel and conference complex. Its position beside the Kurpark links the performance venue directly with the town’s historic spa quarter. Bad Nauheim built its fortune on salt springs and its reputation on the Sprudelhof, one of the largest Jugendstil bathing complexes in Europe, laid out in the first decade of the twentieth century. The conference and events house beside the Kurpark serves the town in the way spa towns have always needed: rooms large enough for a gathering, a lecture or a concert, a few minutes' walk from the water.
