Bulgaria and South Korea re-established diplomatic relations on 23 March 1990, and the Korean embassy in Sofia carries the cultural side of them. Its recurring musical undertaking is the Korean–Bulgarian Friendship Concert, an orchestral programme whose third edition was given in Sofia in October 2015. Outside that series the mission backs Korean film screenings, language teaching and the popular-music and traditional-arts events that have drawn a younger Bulgarian audience since the 2010s.
