Евентум Витлих

Eventum is Wittlich’s municipal sports and events hall, opened in 2013. It combines sporting use with public ceremonies and cultural programmes. The hall was the setting for the Georg Meistermann Prize presentation to Hans-Dietrich Genscher in its opening year. It was also chosen for the 2016 presentation to the writer Herta Müller, whose announced programme included a tribute by Martin Schulz, a conversation with Ernest Wichner and music by the Collegium Musicum Trier chamber ensemble. These events illustrate the building’s role in the town’s civic and cultural life alongside its sporting function. The Eventum is Wittlich's sport and events hall, listed by the town among its public institutions beside the district court, the hospital and the indoor pool. Handball is played there — HSG Wittlich counts it among its home courts — and the flat floor and clear span take touring concerts and shows as readily as league fixtures. It stands at Brautweg 5 on the edge of Wittlich, the seat of the Bernkastel-Wittlich district in the hills above the Mosel.
